Welcome back to the monthly edition of Where Bloggers Live! I am lucky to have joined a terrific group of bloggers who give a peek into the places and spaces where they spend their time.

Today's topic is...If I Could Donate $100,000 to Any Charity, Which One and Why?
I actually have two immediate responses to this, one practical and one emotional.
My practical charity choice: The Nature Conservancy. I fully support the outcomes they are working toward and the methods that they use to achieve them. And they do work on a global scale for which a $100,000 donation could find ready and important use. I have made (much smaller) donations to them a number of times over the years.
I asked Google's AI whether The Nature Conservancy is a good charity, and this is what it said:

My emotional charity choice: House Rabbit Resource Network, an animal shelter/charity north of Austin, TX that is "dedicated to improving the lives of domestic rabbits through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and education." This is the organization from which we adopted our beloved Kate & Leo, the terrific mini rex rabbits that turned me into the bunny-obsessed person you all know on this blog! My husband spent time volunteering as a rabbit cage-cleaner/rabbit petter for one of the women fostering bunnies (around 30 of them, if I recall correctly). I will always be grateful to HRRN for introducing me to the wonderful world of rabbits, and I appreciate the care and support they showed Leo at the end of his life.

Every year, at our request, my mother-in-law makes donations to this organization for Christmas and birthdays (supposedly in lieu of other gifts but she still surprises us with things like the rabbit quilt I've shown you), and we get photos of the rabbits that the donation is sponsoring. I have a wall of our past sponsored rabbits around the calendar in our kitchen area. Here are the bunnies her gift is supporting this year.

My actual charity choice: House Rabbit Resource Network
I like to donate money to HRRN every year, and while writing this post, I realized that I hadn't done so for 2025! So while my donation was $500 instead of $100,000, this post did inspire me to follow through on an actual donation. Thanks, Bettye, for choosing this interesting and motivational topic!
Thanks to everyone for joining me today for a quick overview of where I'd donate $100,000 (or $500) to charity.
Next month's topic is Life's Little Miracles...which is a joyful and optimistic theme that provides a sense of gratitude and hope that the world needs more of right now.
In the meantime, visit these lovely bloggers as they share about the charities they would support:
Bettye at Fashion Schlub
Daenel at Living Outside the Stacks
Em at Dust and Doghair
Jodie at Jodie’s Touch of Style
Iris, always in our hearts, from Iris' Original Ramblings
Now to you: what charity would you pick for a $100,000 donation? How about a $500 donation?
Blogs I link up with are listed here.

I didn't even realize there was a bunny charity which is silly because of course there is. I love that your mom makes donations there for you in lieu of gifts. I would prefer to be a bunny snuggler than a bunny cage cleaner outer, though!

Ahh, The Nature Conservancy is a great one! Without our planet, what do we have?? Nada.
But today I will make a little donation to the bunnies, cuz of their velvetty ears.

It only makes sense that you would give to such a bunny fund...we all make a difference in small and important ways. XOOX Jodie
Both great charities. We recently went through the charity to which we regularly donate checking to see how they measure up, how much of each dollar donated actually goes to purpose for which the charity was created. We support the Cat's Meow which does good work for cats like HRRN. Thankful to know there are people rescuing and providing love and care to domesticated rabbits. We have loved and cared for at least a dozen bunnies ourselves.
I wondered if your choice would be rabbit centric. It's a lovely thing to be able to return the gift of love a pet offers, and in a highly meaningful way. And if people don't help, who will?
