Welcome back to the monthly edition of Where Bloggers Live! I am lucky to have joined a terrific group of bloggers who give a peek into the places and spaces where they spend their time.

Where Bloggers Live

Today's topic is...Daily MVPs - things in my home that get me through the day. For once, I'm not going to overthink this! I just started making a list and stopped when I got to 10. Well, actually 12 because the most important two are:

  • Mr. in St Paul

  • Rabbits, all of them in the world

Here are the other 10 in alphabetical order (note: these are not affiliate links):

#1: Aquaphor

I started using this as a lip balm substitute during the winter that I applied before bed so I would keep my lips from drying out overnight. Now I use it as a go-to lip balm during the day 365 days a year because it works so well. It also is great for keeping elbows and heels from drying out and cracking.

#2: Green Tea

I made the switch from regular black tea to green tea after my kidney stone disaster, and while it was weird to drink iced green tea at first, I have come to love it. I have an iced tea machine that makes enough tea (I use decaf) to last all day (given that I add extra ice as the day wears on). I also drink one cup of hot caffeinated green tea with honey every morning after breakfast to soothe my throat. I should probably give a shout-out to my every-day-before-breakfast can of sugar-free ginger ale that I drink to clear out my throat.

#3: Kitchen Mats

These anti-fatigue mats work great for standing in the kitchen for any length of time. I stand on them when cooking but also when dipping paper beads, which is a process that takes a while. I have a lot less foot and back pain now than I did before buying them.

#4: Lotion Kleenex

My poor nose is beset with daily congestion and runniness from allergies and general irritation, so I go through a lot of Kleenex. The lotion Kleenex keeps the edges of my nose from getting dry, red, and cracked during all but the worst colds/sinus infections. (And you know what's good for those roughed up nose edges? Aquaphor.)

#5: My Prescription Medications & OTC Pills

One of the first things I think of when watching a disaster movie, post-apocalyptic story, or the like is, Oh man, even if I survived the initial disaster, I wouldn't want to try to make it through even one day without my medications. There is one in particular that when I have accidentally missed a dose (because the pharmacy substituted a supposedly chemically identical generic drug for the specific brand of generic drug I usually use) causes immediate suffering such that even though I'm not literally about to die, I basically wish I were.

#6: New Hairbrush

I've only been using this new hairbrush for a couple weeks, but it has already proved its worth as a daily MVP for my long, thick, easily snarled up and frizzy hair.

#7: Skechers Slip-ins

My photo of this shoe is terrible because it's already sold out on the Skechers website so I grabbed the little image from my order page. I got this shoe on the recommendation of my mom, and I wear them for my daily walk. I was actually planning to order a second pair but now I suppose I'll look at the other models that are currently available and pick one of them.

#8: Supportive "Slippers"/Slip Ons

The trick to keeping the lower half of my body happy when standing a while in the kitchen is to use the aforementioned anti-fatigue mats in combination with a pair of supportive slip-on, open-back mule-style shoes that I call my "slippers." I currently have two pairs that I switch between, neither of which are still available. I don't have a particular brand that I'm wedded to; I just need them to offer good support and stability.

#9: Waterpik Water Flosser

I love my Waterpik and enjoy using it at least once per day (I use it as step 1 of my bedtime routine and sometimes use it in the morning as well).

#10: Wedge Pillow

If I had to pick my top two MVPs, my prescription medication I can't bear to live without would be number 1, and my wedge pillow just might be number 2. I could probably substitute a pile of pillows for an uncomfortable night or two, but long-term, this pillow has made a huge difference to my sleep quality.

Next month's topic is The Tabs That Never Close: My Essential Websites...and there has been a bit of a change here in the last year or so.

Great MVPs! Aquaphor is super handy and the pillow looks interesting. I'd have to have a good think about what would make my top 10!

That pillow is very curious to me. Would like to try one for a couple of nights. I have significant neck issues and pain - wonder if it would help? I should have put my one very necessary mental health med on my list. And I don't dare miss a dose of it.

My daughters used Aquaphor with my grandbabies. I have been very pleased with CeraVe but might have to try Aquaphor, too.
