The Bunnification of My Domicile Continues Apace

I'm very impressed with people who change the décor of their homes based on the seasons, but that's just not who I am. I do some years put up a somewhat overly-decorated Christmas tree, but that's pretty much it for seasonal décor.

Sometimes this surprises people, and I get it. If you were to see my apartment in spring, it's clear that I go all-out decorating for Easter, hence the mad proliferation of rabbits everywhere. But that's not for Easter, my friends. In my world, it's rabbits all year round.

I also don't care that the Year of the Rabbit has made way for the Year of the Dragon this month. Chez moi, it's 366 days of rabbits in 2024.

When a new decorative item with a rabbit motif enters my apartment, I tell my husband that "the bunnification of my domicile continues apace." Because while many people have a plethora of ideas about what they want their décor to accomplish practically and stylistically, my two primary goals are (1) comfort and (2) rabbit-ness.

There have been a few changes on both of these fronts since I described my home's College Living 2.0 aesthetic. On the comfort side, I have a new desk chair to use at my craft table, a larger TV on which I can actually read the descriptive text on Netflix, and a new recliner for watching said TV.

On the rabbit side, these are some of the additions in the last few months that feature this most-Easter-y mammal for your spring-is-coming enjoyment:

A mat for our entryway, de rigueur for the winter/spring wet boot season in Minnesota (I purchased it online).

Rabbit mat

A plump and judgmental Dutch rabbit figurine (a gift from my mother in law).

Rabbit figurine

A white rabbit table lamp (gift from my mom). I had actually been complaining to my husband about the lack of light in the living room so this one is both practical and stylish. I asked my husband to find a place for it, and he selected this great spot next to my favorite piece of furniture and a rabbit puppet.

Rabbit lamp

A sweet double rabbit pillow, perfect for winter but we know it'll be on the sofa year round (a gift from my mother in law).

Rabbit pillow - winter

A sweet single rabbit plus bird pillow, perfect for spring/summer but we know it'll be on the sofa year round (a gift from my mom).

Rabbit pillow - summer

The rabbit figurine came wrapped in this gorgeous cotton quilting fabric that features plants, flowers, butterflies, bunnies, a blue moon and stars, and...a noxious fog?? The rabbits don't know what that atomic cloud is, and neither do I. I love this one bizarre element on an otherwise pretty pattern!

Rabbit fabric

Do you do any seasonal decorating for spring? For Easter? Do you have any rabbit décor in your house? Do you have any favorite motifs that show up again and again in your décor year round? What do you think the rabbits are looking at on that fabric?
