Putting the Mess in #Neckmess

Despite the seeming ubiquity of "neatly layered necklaces" converting to "unholy tangled necklaces," I have had good luck so far (knock wood) with my layered necklace and #neckmess efforts staying reasonably straightened out while I wear them. But I recently experimented with an accidental #neckmess that moved well into true necklace mess territory.

A while back, I discussed losing a new slate blue necklace in a Nine West shoe box because I had forgotten that there are two of these boxes. But with Robot's help, I found the necklace and several of its friends. Well, the part that I didn't tell you was that those necklaces had gotten up to no good while hiding in the shoe box! Apparently my #neckmess powers do not extend to necklaces in storage because at least five necklaces had become completely entwined in that box, with various chain necklaces wrapping themselves around a multi-strand bead necklace.

So I did what any #neckmess aficionado with a blog would do: I put it on! And took a photo of it! It's ridiculous, but at the same time, I'm kind of feeling the general concept of a multi-strand bead necklace with a pendant hanging from it. I need to let this idea percolate for a bit.

Conveniently for me, wearing this true mess of necklaces got gravity working in my favor, and over the next couple minutes, all the chain necklaces slithered off the bead necklace base and I had a bunch of separated necklaces again.

It's a good thing that most of my necklaces are stored in individual little clear ziploc bags. I hate to think what trouble they'd be getting into otherwise!
