Two Warm Weather Halloween Outfits with Handmade Jewelry Sets

With Halloween just around the corner, today I am sharing two Halloween outfit ideas (that are not costumes!) for some inspiration. In Minnesota, we have had warm weather for the last two Octobers, so if you are also in the "fall on the calendar, but late summer in the weather" category this year, these might be quite relevant to you. I am also showing off two Halloween jewelry sets that I made using the Bargain Bead Box and the Curated Bead Box for the last two Octobers.

Outfit #1: Casual with Very Subtle Witch Theme

When I woke up yet again to a warm day, for which none of my planned "fall" outfits were appropriate, I decided this would be a good opportunity to build an outfit around a layered necklace and earrings set I made about a week ago. For a day that had jewelry making, blogging, and spreadsheet updating on the agenda, I decided to keep things easy and casual. Because the jewelry combined rusty red-orange and purple-wine colors, I picked out a rust t-shirt and black skimmer shorts for my base outfit, providing a nice Halloween-coded but muted background to showcase my creations. (Remember my "last chance" summer outfits from the end of September? Turned out that I had more summery weather ahead of me than I expected...)

I designed these necklaces thinking that I would be able to wear them with a long-sleeved floral print blouse for Halloween day. The weirdly warm weather caused me to pivot, but I think the result is still fabulous with this rust T that brings out some of the richer dark orange tones in the necklace (for example, the dark orange strawberry quartz hex beads on the middle necklace).

These thrifted Target ballet flats are such a strange color! They're not purple, and they're not brown...they are somehow inbetween the two. I classify them as "purple" in my mind, but they really don't work with true purple tones. However, I thought they worked well with the purple-infused-with-burgundy/wine in my necklaces.

For my all-DIY daily bracelet stack, I picked out beaded bracelets that fit my outfit's color scheme of orange/rust, purple, and black. I think it's great that purple has become a dominant Halloween color, giving us more variety and richness of possibility vs. the old black and orange combination. {stretch bracelet tutorial}

My DIY earrings (design #5, large statement charms, in this post) make me laugh for two reasons:

(1) They are bunny witches! How cute and whimsical is this white lop-eared rabbit with her witch dress and hat, broom, pumpkin, and bat? Cat witch motifs (also adorable) are not uncommon, but rabbit witches? Not so!

(2) Only while I was writing this post did I realize that I'd already made an identical pair of earrings like this that I wore last year on the day before Halloween! The package from Bead Box Bargains must have had four charms in it originally. Well it won't be hard for me to take one of the pairs apart and use the charms in a different way.

I enjoyed working with this bead box that had a witchy Halloween vibe with the "hex" play on words but that didn't have specifically Halloween content. In addition to the bunny witch earrings, I made two other pairs that will coordinate with the necklaces while not being Halloween-themed.

Outfit #2: Casual/Business Casual with Subtle Bat Theme

It's weird that I so precisely remember what I was doing last year on Halloween, and it's not because I was going to a party or anything Halloween-related. It just happened to be the day my new glasses were ready for me to pick up, so this is the last outfit I photographed wearing my older gold frames.

It was another warm day, so I kept my layers light and breezy, and again I wore black with rust (instead or orange)...only this time with white instead of purple as my third color. Although it wasn't at all intentional, I loved how the white top with a gathered bell sleeve and the black vest combine to create a bit of "Central European folk costume/beer maid in a dirndl" energy, which works well with the bat jewelry (to an American who doesn't really distinguish between all those Germanic/Slavic/whatever European countries and has a thought process that goes a bit like: Bat-Vampire-Dracula-Vlad the Impaler-Transylvania-Europe-Germany-Beer Maid).

Both of the necklaces have bat motifs. The short one has a silver and obsidian bat pendant hanging down from the center, and the long one has silver bat connectors going down the sides.

My shoe of choice was a simple patent leather flat that connected back to the black vest and jewelry for a bookending effect.

Another bracelet stack, this time with a black, white, and orange/rust color scheme to match my outfit. The black and white stripy tube beads were made from the cover of a local art shop's catalog, and I made the other beaded bracelets except for the top bracelet with the silver rabbit charm that was a gift from my husband. Yes, I managed to sneak a bunny into this look as well. {stretch bracelet tutorial} {bicone paper bead tutorial} {tube paper bead tutorial}

My DIY earrings are a fun pair of statement charms to which I simply added the ear wire (the bat charms came in the Bargain Bead Box). Simple but effective!

It's not out of the question for the Twin Cities to get snow for Halloween, but that's not happening this year! We might get rain, though, which is probably worse for trick-or-treating, though at least kids don't have to cover their costumes with coats.

Do you like to dress to acknowledge Halloween? Do you wear Halloween colors, Halloween motifs, full-on costumes? Do you decorate your yard for Halloween? How about inside your home? What weather are you expecting for Halloween this year where you live?
