OOTD: Woodland Critters

Last winter, I purchased this autumn-toned "woodland critters" 3/4 sleeve T from CJ Banks on sale for $12.28. I wore it a couple times in the spring, but was eager for the summer to fall transition season, for which it seems perfect.

The mixed autumn leaves-and-wild-animal print is so appealing, but of course, this little guy (and his fellow bunny friends) are my favorite part! In fact, I used this photo as part of my rabbit-themed clothing and accessories banner at the top of my site.

I've mentioned before that between my blonde hair darkening during the past 18 months of the pandemic (in which it has gotten almost zero sun exposure) and my new rose gold and brown glasses, I have become more interested in the brown color family. So for my sartorial season of Summer/Fall, which started on Monday 8/30 (and runs through the end of September), I knew I wanted to wear this most fall-themed thing in my wardrobe to get the transition season started right.

I chose these aloe vera ankle pants to wear with it because (1) this color (coordinating with but not matching any of the greens in the top) is a versatile one that I like to wear in every season but Winter so it is autumn-consistent without being extremely "autumny" (do you know what I mean?) and (2) ankle pants are a favorite choice of mine for transition seasons. I was originally planning to wear my brown flats with the outfit, but when I chose and prepared my outfits for the week the prior weekend, I scheduled an outfit for the following day that I really wanted the brown flats for. Since I dislike wearing the same shoes two days in a row, I substituted the nude flats with gold studs here, which gave the look a bit of a lighter look that I liked a lot.

OOTD 8/30/21

My Summer sartorial season may have ended, but my necklace layering tendencies are still going strong. Once again, I started with the sloth pendant as my centerpiece and worked out from there. On the top, I layered faux pearls, a gold herringbone chain, a DIY camel-gold glass pearl strand, a thin gold chain, and a dark bronze charm necklace with birds and flowers into something of a #neckmess. A few of those layers blend a bit into the background of the top (such as the dark bronze charm necklace), which added a sense of depth and texture without being over the top. For length, I added my trusty gold tassel necklace.

It's not obvious at all, but my headband is actually a silky scarf in the same print as the top! Given that both were available, I couldn't resist buying them together. I hadn't thought I'd wear them together, thinking of the traditional top + scarf on top of it look, but when the scarf folded up into a headband, it's not overkill. The earrings are another of my world's-easiest glass pearl beads on premade hoops pairs, this time a gold hoop with various shades of rose-brown pearl beads.

My bracelet stacking is still going strong into September also. I'll probably keep it up as long as I'm wearing sleeves that bare the wrists. The gold metallic bracelets are from the set of gold, silver, and rose gold ones I purchased on Amazon (and that purchase has turned out to be a great decision based on how often I draw 1-3 bracelets from that set). The other 5 brown-based bracelets are simple DIY creations made from beads from my Amazon bulk bead purchase (the brown tiger-eye beads in the center) and my Fire Mountain Beads Boss's Bead Bag purchase (the brown, tan, and black small wood beads), plus gold-tone spacer beads from Amazon. The weekend before I wore this outfit, I made the 4 wood bead bracelets specifically to coordinate with this top. Of course they will get worn with other items as well, but I'm still getting a kick out of designing bracelets with specific garments in mind.

Have you started transitioning toward fall (or for our Southern Hemisphere friends, to spring) yet...in color if not in garment type/weight? Or by switching to (or planning) your fall wardrobe capsule?
