3 Layered Necklaces: Floral & Stripe Edition

Welcome to another round-up of three layered necklaces that I have worn as part of my outfit of the day this summer with discussion of how I put these necklaces together.

This necklace duo is definitely a departure from my normal, but I was interested in experimenting with a medium-length layer on top of the button up shirt under the collar. To be visible against this floral print background, the necklace needed some oomph, but I wasn't in the mood for something extremely colorful given that I wanted the outfit (worn with aloe vera crops and gold loafers) to keep a more muted color palette. This ruffled gold-tone/clear collar statement necklace ($10 at Target, 12/2014) was a good fit for the vibe I was looking for. Between the print and the buttons down the front, I didn't think a long pendant was necessary, so I finished the look in my typical way: by adding a pearl necklace inside the collar ($5.39 at Loft, 5/2020).

This necklace trio is a pretty standard neutral layered necklace look for me, with one exception! I started with the middle mixed metal ring necklace ($16.32 at Kohls, 11/2020), which repeated the colors from the leopard print flats. And because I thought the darker rings would show up nicely against the light yellow tank, I wore the ring necklace so that it overlapped the top of my tank rather than laying entirely on the bare skin above the tank, which is my more usual practice. This outfit already has a LOT of color going on, so I finished the look quite simply with a long gold tassel pendant ($20 at Kohls, 12/2014) and white faux pearl strand ($10.20 at Kohls, 12/2020). In this case, I really liked the middle necklace overlapping the tank, and though sometimes I'm in the mood for more of a mess, the very neat look of these layers was just the thing I was looking for in this outfit.

In this final look, the multi-colored crystal stone statement necklace was the centerpiece, chosen to pick up the various colors of the floral print shirt ($31.20 at Loft, 10/2016). Next I chose the pearl/crystal ball bead necklace because wearing one in the top layer next to my face has become my go-to ($38.25 at Kohls, 11/2020). Finally I filled in the space with a pair of gold-tone chain necklaces, including a narrow curb chain and a very delicate chain with a bar connector ($11.22 at Kohls, 11/2020). I really like how the bar necklace looks there; it's very simple but adds another shape to the mix. This look is missing the long pendant component because the chambray blouse has a subtly interesting button layout down the front that I prefer to highlight rather than obscure.
